Uncommon Sense, n, The capacity to perceive, analyse, conclude and evaluate for oneself, apart from the influence of popular opinion, authority, or consequences.

In some sense, in one or other subject, or practice, in other words a perspective of some sort, we are different, and our reality alters accordingly. But this does not mean that there is a necessity to adopt the thinking of others or to become part of the consensus model of reality. 

The herd mentality, the mindset followed by the mediocre majority, is specifically to be avoided if one is to think for oneself - there is no guarantee that consensus is reliable, or that belonging to a popular group will ensure success. 

Your success in life (however you define this elusive concept) will be determined by the quality of your thinking, and the degree to which that thinking mirrors reality.
